The Aberdeen-based marine services outfit is investing £35 million in four newbuild D-Class Emergency Response and Rescue Vessels (ERRVs), being completed in northern Spain and due to enter service this year.
Callum Bruce, managing director of the Craig Group’s North Star Shipping arm that will operate the vessels, said the quartet would add 120 jobs to the North Sea sector.
The new IMT-designed ERRVs – named the Grampian Don, the Grampian Dee, the Grampian Discovery and the Grampian Defiance – add to a fleet already servicing 50 installations, according to the Craig Group. The vessels are designed to cope with a mass evacuation, and provide anti-collision surveillance, pollution control/oil recovery, emergency towage and tanker assist duties.
