Founded 17 years ago, Lubetech has a rich, varied and interesting history:
Lubetech was founded in 1996 by our current Managing Director, Richard Ghinn. Started as a venture into a market with, at that time, no real leader or focus, an early catalogue was produced detailing a small product range. A benchmark in versatility and absorbency. Although various brands sold initially, the Lubetech own-brand began to take hold owing to the attention to detail and the fresh new ideas that were being developed.
Lubetech started out in a small warehouse in the Chandlers Ford area of Southampton, close to major distribution hubs. Within two years a second, larger storage depot was leased in the Hedge End industrial zone of Southampton to warehouse a growing range of products. In 1999 the company consolidated into a single large unit in Chandlers Ford. Around this time, Lubetech also began in-house development, manufacture and promotion of the range of products today known as 'Classic' - in its day a generation shift in absorbent capability. A more comprehensive catalogue was produced that invoked new areas of innovation, beginning the ascent to market leadership. By 2003 the company had moved again to yet larger premises in the same area, and 3 new catalogues were produced in a short space of time.
From 2006, Lubetech began to operate only through distribution rather than direct sales, passing direct accounts to resellers. Time & resources freed enabled a new focus on product development for the benefit of end users, and out of this R&D-driven approach came Lubetechs' 'Black and White' and 'Superior' ranges, to provide a `good-better-best` sorbent product range alongside the established `Classic`. As Lubetech worked with reseller partners, a requirement for a sustainable product range was identified; March 2007 saw the first `Natural` products entering live trials, and by September of the same year production that set new performance standards was established. A corresponding catalogue was produced and the range widened further, demonstrating practical innovation.
By mid-2008, company growth drew a further move, this time to its current purpose-built Distribution Centre in Hedge End: The 30,000 sq ft Distribution Centre with in-house training and conference facilities close to docks, airports and motorway networks met the company`s needs, enabling the professional transition of remaining end user customers to reseller partners. Office space alongside provided for sales and support staff as well as the training & survey team. The company took huge strides through 2009 and 2010, partnering with major industrial resellers and their corporate customers, and putting more investment than ever before into marketing and product development. Early 2011 saw a new brochure launched, taking the range to over 1,000 product lines for the first time - with corresponding web presence for the benefit of customers and distributors alike.
Today, Lubetech is a `solutions provider` in both envrionmental and health & safety markets, witnessing steep growth & defying economic trends with its `sustainable`, `best value` business approach. A further 15,000 sq ft of external uncovered space is currently in use, with 10,000 sq ft of product storage on an external site. In 2012, The Lubetech Skills Centre was the latest innovation in on- and off-site training, expanding our service and education support to all in the industry for the benefit of business now and future generations. For 2013, we set new standards... and achieved recognition as the World Leader in Spill Control. And we aren't done yet...!
